A correct first impression, is better than a good one. - TJ Guttormsen

A correct first impression is better than a good one. [Video]

Should we really try to always make a good first impression?

No. We shouldn’t.

When people try to make good first impressions, they tend to lose themselves. They act the way they think they’re expected to act – which makes them act like everyone else does when meeting someone new.

The problem with this isn’t just that we end up not standing out from the crowd at all. It also creates a challenge for us when we’re ready to start showing our genuine self. And it can even create relationships (whether they’re professional, platonic, or intimate) that simply aren’t right for us.

So let’s stop trying to make a good first impression when we meet someone new, and focus on creating a correct one. One that will both help us avoid the pitfalls that many people fall into, and help us connect more easily with people.

To better explain what I mean I shot this video in my home office. Check it out, and let me know what you think!

(I cover this topic, as well as several related ones, in my online courses. Take a look and see which one is right for you.)
